>> EVENT DESCRIPTION
Finland, the home of Santa Clause, the midnight sun and massive amounts of time spent in the air.
The rally Finland, formally the Thousand Lakes Rally, is a place where the cars are at maximum from the start of the stage to the finish, more so than any other rally on the calendar. The roads are smooth gravel and sand and so fast it will make your head spin. The stages are all above the average speed of 100 kph and attention to the line and notes in the rally are critical. There are blind crests that are being approached at over 180 kph, and complete faith in the notes allows the drivers to not back off knowing that there is landing room on the other side. The drivers should actually ask for clearance from air traffic control before the stages, the cars are reaching distances of over 40 meters in the air on the massive jumps, that is half a soccer field with out any control. These airborne missiles do not have ailerons and rudders, just talent inside the cabin.
This event is one of the prettiest, fastest and the most fun for the drivers, and why wouldn’t you have fun, when you get to fly your 450,000-pound rally car around Scandinavian paradise. |
