The Swedish Rally is unique in the WRC's 16 round schedule as being the only pure, full snow event. With temperatures sometimes as low as -30c, roads covered in treacherous ice and lined with snow banks and hidden dips, the race poses huge problems for the teams and the drivers who need finger tip control to negotiate the lethal snowy stages.
Sweden also offers a unique experience for the thousands of vodka fuelled rally fans that descend on Karlstad every year and the traditional hillside bonfires along with the odd reindeer or two help creates an atmosphere that’s hard to beat anywhere else in the world. |
